the magic of at-home sessions.

I pulled up to their house, texted Jacquie, and they tumbled out the front door. No one went shopping for new clothes, they just pulled from their closets. No one had to find lost shoes. We talked, turned on music for the kids to dance to, they played, and Jacquie said, “I think I’ll have to do this again. This is so easy!”

And that is the magic of in-home photo sessions.

Now, let’s explore some more magical reasons to book your next family session at home. I love a good bullet-pointed list, don’t you?

  • As mentioned above, no tracking down shoes or rushing out the door.

  • If we focus on doing them in the front or back yard, you don’t even have to tidy up much in the house.

  • Kids are less distracted in their own home without anyone else around. If you wait until busy season, the popular photo spots are filled with people.

  • On that note, most everyone is more comfortable and relaxed at home. You don’t have to worry about toddlers running off or Dad feeling uncomfortable in his stiff, hot shirt.

  • You get a visual record of what your home looks like in an artistic way and a record of what your people looked like in that space.

  • We can get creative and document some of your favorite activities. Bubble blowing, art-making, bike-and-scooter-riding, ice-cream eating, and baking are a few that come to mind.

  • We don’t have to stay at your home. Do you often go for a neighborhood walk? I love walks! Do you want to venture to the neighborhood park? Let’s do it! In fact, I’m going to share more about “adventure sessions” in another post!

  • We don’t have to be reliant on good weather. Let’s face it, in the Phoenix area it’s flippin’ hot for a good portion of the year. Why not take some breaks in your cool, air-conditioned home? No sense sweating buckets when we can make beautiful pictures indoors.

I firmly believe that moments matter more than getting that Instagram-perfect photo. I want to make pictures that make you feel, that recall a memory, and that is truly the magic of in-home, lifestyle photo sessions. I can’t wait to photograph your family just as they are in the most special place in the world to you—your home. I’m now booking family sessions for summer and fall 2020!

*I’m super excited to feature a fellow photographer with a philosophy similar to my own. If you love my work but live in New Mexico, check out Stacey, an amazing Albuquerque Newborn Photographer. She focuses on newborns and has such a gorgeous way of photographing the little things you’ll really want to remember about the beginning of your child’s life. Stacey has been an online friend of mine for years, ever since we took a course together and I’m consistently in love with her work and professionalism.
